Cunning Linguists Languages and their use. What languages do you speak and why? What do words really mean? Can you say things in one language that you can't say in another? Should there be a national language? How many languages should a person know and what are they?

The correct answer is: Driver's license.

"Driver license" would imply a license needed to operate or own an object called a "driver" (ie. a golf club, for instance)
"Drivers' license" would imply a single license for many drivers.

That being said, many places still use the other forms (primarily Driver License)

That would be logically and grammatically fine. I THINK that's what they call it in Great Britain. Too lazy to google it though.

No...no..that is "semantically correct". Cos, according to law, you only needed the government's permission to drive, not living as a certified driver....hence....

driving...license....

p/s : I thought you I was on your ignore/ignorant list

You do need the government's permission to be a driver, which is why "driver's license" also makes sense.

You're on my ignore list, though I occasionally view your posts. Usually you post too much idiocy to deal with, but occasionally I only have to correct a few mistakes.

NO YOU DON'T YOU DUMBASS !!!!

Knowing how to drive or being a certified driver from other country doesn't require a license you asstard. Only the act of driving does if they (government) found out,....thus :

DRIVING LICENSE.

But I don;t blame you tho....knowing that "person of lower than average intelligence" are more often than not...semantically-challenged...cos semantics are just another application of logic and reasoning......(which is a part of intelligence)..

Now did you feel sad ? Cos it makes me sad just to look at you....and contemplate all these short cummings of yours....

If you don't have a license, then you can not (ie. are not legally allowed to) be a driver in a given country. If you "know how to drive", but aren't licensed, then you aren't recognized as a driver. If you have a driver's license from another country, then generally you will also be allowed to be a driver when you're abroad.

There's nothing to argue here.
