Why does Apple get so much free publicity?
Everyday I see a news story about the iPhone, iPod, iTunes, or some speech by that faggot Steve Jobs. Yet, I almost never see "news" about Microsoft products and whenever I do it's almost always bad, unlike the media's constant praise of Apple.
Despite the media hype, Apple products are inferior to their Microsoft counterparts in every practical way. They cost more, they crash at least as much, less software is available, and they're generally less maintainable and expandable. People buy Apple products to be "cool" rather than for practical use. They're more a music company than a computer company and the idea of buying music online is absurd when you consider how easy it is to pirate and that ripped MP3s are superior to DRMed iTunes shit. Not that I'm a big fan of Microsoft either.
Anyway, why is the media always shining its spotlights on Apple? Is there some sort of conspiracy going on where Apple pays mainstream media companies for favorable coverage? It's not like mac fags make up a significant portion of the population, and they can just go to their retarded mac blogs anyway.

Apple is owned by Microsoft, didn't see that one coming did you?
It's like those Truth commercials, they still advertise cigarettes but with reverse psychology.

From Apple's 2003 SEC filing:
"In August 1997, the Company and Microsoft Corporation (Microsoft) entered into patent cross license and technology agreements. In addition, Microsoft purchased 150,000 shares of Apple Series A nonvoting convertible preferred stock ("preferred stock") for $150 million. These shares were convertible by Microsoft after August 5, 2000, into shares of the Company's common stock at a conversion price of $8.25 per share. During 2000, 74,250 shares of preferred stock were converted to 9 million shares of the Company's common stock. During 2001, the remaining 75,750 preferred shares were converted into 9.2 million shares of the Company's common stock."
Sorry, I had to check sources myself, I had originally heard this from someone, but you have to admit that's a lot of shares. Regardless apparently they have all been sold. Not to mention the whole Anti-trust mess MS would end up in if they did own Apple stock. My apologies for unsubstantiated claims.

People who worship Apple are the same people who stop liking a band when they go mainstream. They want to be different and they want something that's more exclusive. Everybody has Windows, Apple is the alternative. And everyone knows how "cool" the alternative is.

Actually, quite the opposite.
Apple people like a band once they have become mainstream, while knowing nothing about a band when it was underground (Like flocking to iPod because it is popular, never owning another Apple product before).
They are the bandwagon group. They want to be counter-culture, but they are really just popular culture.

Hmm, I see what you mean. But i was talking more about people who use Mac computers and bash Windows. I'm sure we can both agree though that the people who try to be different through buying Apple are absolute douchebags of the first degree.

I see what you mean also.
I guess the Apple computer buyers are slightly different than iPod buyers.
