I sadly can't give much input.. when I'm getting tied up, I don't pay much attention to how it's being done.
It can depend on the person, and what they're comfortable with. I like to struggle a lot so handcuffs go on first, then the tying can be sorted.
I sadly don't get the chance to try out bondage on delicate femmes, but I've tried some simple stuff, and binding the wrists fairly comfortably is easy.
For real quick stuff, try duct tape.. it can leave an annoying sticky residue on the skin, but it minimizes faffing around. It can also be good for sudden unexpected situations.

BDSM actually can be dangerous. Which is why safewords exist. But the danger is the fun part.

And rope can be a lot sexier than handcuffs.

if you want something fun to tie your partner up with but are afraid of using ropes/other abrasive items, go to a sex shop and buy some silk ties (sp?). I'm sure you could buy something similar somewhere else, but I've used these and they were soft, strong, and a lot of fun to tie someone up with

Try this: Tie a piece to one wrist snugly but not too tight. Then wrap it around her hands at least 5 times. Then wrap the rope between her wrists and tie it off. If you don't make it too tight it won't cut off circulation and it's really hard to escape. Since the pressure is spread out over a larger area its safer. Also for securing the rope to a bed/other object learn the bowline. It's as strong as the rope itself but it is still easy to untie.
