Re: Use of Profanity in Languages
Why would we? Profanity conveys our emotions, feelings, and mood. Sucks to you if you happen to be caught in someone's wrath, but then again, wouldn't it suck if you couldn't express your own?

Re: Use of Profanity in Languages
There have been so many arguments against the use of profanity . the people argue with the fact that you do not want your children to learn profane words through you.
would you agree on such an argument. |

Basically...most kids grow up knowing that they can't swear in the presence of their parents, and they learn profanity from other people their age. That's how it's been for a long time, and I don't see any problem with it. |

Re: Use of Profanity in Languages
Dude, profanity is awesome if you use it right.
I have a friend that never curses. This one time she said "Shut the fuck up" and everyone fell silent because we knew she was serious business. If you go around cursing all the time it kinda loses its impact. |
Re: Use of Profanity in Languages
Cursing is in my opinion the most interesting aspect of any language. The versatility of the words "fuck" and "shit", for example, is fucking beautiful.
"Look, you fuck, I don't give a fuck what the fuck you fucking think, motherfucker. Go fuck yourself, fuckface, because I've fucking had enough of your fucking shit. FUCK!" |
Re: Use of Profanity in Languages
Theres something about profanity that I just don't understand.
What is really so bad, about the word "Fuck". Like, who decided that it was a bad thing to say? Who decided it was vulgar? Why can't they say "Fuck" on tv or the radio? Whats the harm? I think in the polar opposite of OP, I think profanity shouldn't exist. He thinks that profane words shouldn't exist, I think there should be no such thing as a "bad word". |
