I was watching CNN, and they had this special with Dr. Sanjay Gupta on Sufism.
They had started out with a Sufi ritual thing where they had entered a state where they had "left" their body. After this, they had put skewers through their cheeks, and one guy got one through to flesh of his chest (not through his body). They were not bleeding.
Being utterly confused, they continued by saying that these guys also dry off wet fabric with body heat they can generate to an extreme measure through meditation.

Sufism is quite amazing, but not much more impressive than any other mysticism. The human mind can have some amazing control over the body.

What?
One guy with an "out of body experience" wounded himself in the chest/cheeks with metal spikes?
And why were they confused?

No, I was confused. And the guys still in their body proceded to push them through the chest and cheeks of the guys not in their body.
Sorry about that. That was a little vague.
