I just wondered, ej, this being the second commandment

"You shall have no other gods besides Me...Do not make a sculpted image or any likeness of what is in the heavens above..."

Does this mean.... in a strange way, that we shouldn't try to depict the thoughts and opinions of god either, cause we cannot understand them anyways? If so.. isn't the bible against christian religion really?

I understand this might be a stupid question to sum.... but i'm just wondering

That's the first commandment.

You should probably ask questions more often and make sre you keep notes. That has got to be the most absurdly illgical statement I have heard in a while.

You cannot possibly have a flawed understanding of god if you believe the bible is the literal word of god. Surely the image you got out of the bible would be the one that was intended for you to get?

That's the way I would see things if I subscribed to that belief system.

No, he's right, I hope he keeps asking questions until he realizes none of it makes sense and turns atheist.

I go to a catholic school. I keep a bible handy with certain chapters marked to question my FEMALE teacher. According to the bible females should have no authority over man. I ask her the same questions you ask now and she thinks i'm joking. Go figure...

The Christian Church had an argument over this...

like 1200 years ago.

It basically ended up in the split of the two Churches: Catholic and Eastern Orthodox (and because of many other reasons).

The East supported while the West denied because they were poor at the time.

Now both use symbols.

your suggesting i'm not http://www.totse.com/bbs/biggrin.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/biggrin.gif) not saying that i am though... but it's really besides the point if i am or not. Even if the bible is bull i could in theory still believe in a god.

But i teach physics (among other things).. so maybe you can guess if i believe or not (but then again, this could be a bad hint, since it depends if you look at beta people in general or for instance, einstein)

Because we can be safe to assume you are coming at this with an open mind.

I wanted to bust out laughing. Until, I realized the possibility that you may be serious. Then of course, the smile turned into a frown.

'Easterbunny'- Let me give you scripture. "A time comes, and now is, when those who worship God, shall worship Him in spirit and in truth."

It seems as if you haven't read the whole OT. God's chosen would worship gods that didn't exist. These 'gods' were demons.

"To you it is given to know the The knowledge of the secrets of the Kingdom of God, but the them, it is not. That seeing they may see and not perceive, Hearing they may hear and not understand, Lest they should turn,And their sins be forgiven them."

You will NEVER have Knowledge of God, UNLESS you repent. Admit you're a sinner, Believe Jesus (God) is the Son of the Father (God), and paid the price for your sins. Confess (With your mouth) Jesus is Lord.

"For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

We don't Worship crosses, and images of what one believes The Christ (The Anointed One) to have looked like. The Inspired Word of God says, His hair is like wool, His eyes, like fire. We worship Him, In Spirit and in Truth, Lifting Holy Hands unto the Lord. He IS God, and He is worthy of all power, praise, honour, and glory.

If you tried to call Christianity 'evil' then you'd be calling Judism evil. (Which would make you extremely, ignorant). The OT (Laws of Moses, etc.) is what the Jews go by. The NT is prophesy fulfilled. (See, Deuteronomy 32 http://www.totse.com/bbs/smile.gif (http://www.totse.com/bbs/smile.gif) Pay attention to 32:16-17; 32:20-21

Romans 1:20-22 For ever since the creation of the world His invisible nature and attributes, that is, His eternal power and divinity, have been made intelligible and clearly discernible in and through the things that have been made (His handiworks). So [men] are without excuse [altogether without any defense or justification Because when they knew and recognized Him as God, they did not honor and glorify Him as God or give Him thanks. But instead they became futile and godless in their thinking [with vain imaginings, foolish reasoning, and stupid speculations] and their senseless minds were darkened.Claiming to be wise, they became fools [professing to be smart, they made simpletons of themselves].

HellzShellz, i'm gonna make you a happy man, no reason to frown. I'm not serious at all.... but i could imagine some people would actually start to think about this, and seen the average intelligence on totse, i thought the outcome might be entertaining.
